Buyer/ Materials Planner

An immediate opportunity exists for a Buyer/Planner who will be responsible for and manages purchasing, materials requirements planning, supplier relationship management, and the product lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will possess practical procurement and material planning experience, be committed to working in a team environment to ensure on-time delivery of the highest quality products, as well as have a strong understanding and experience with MRP and Kanban systems as well as Engineering change requests and BOM set-up.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Material planning, maintenance and evaluation of inventory to ensure on time shipments and no line stops. 

  • Negotiate, coordinate and expedite purchase orders

  • Conduct supplier evaluations and qualification of new suppliers  

  • Create, schedule and release production work orders

  • Learn multiple product lines and Bills of Materials and maintain adequate inventory levels to meet forecasted Sales

  • Complete all tasks following Purchasing/Planning ISO procedures

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with emphasis in business administration, economics or engineering

  • 2 - 5 years of progressively responsible purchasing and materials control experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Relevant experience working with an ERP system (Epicor® ERP Solutions -is preferred)

  • Proficient with use of computers and Microsoft Office Products

  • Excellent verbal, reading, and written English language skills.

Physical demands and abilities:

  • Occasional lifting or carrying of small parts
