Proton is also a recognized leader in the exciting and potentially revolutionary field of fueling hydrogen fuel cell automobiles POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for both the receiving of materials and inspection of materials entering the facility. Inspection includes components, subassemblies, and finished products received into (incoming inspection) and shipped from (final inspection) the facility. Responsibilities include following the proper sampling plans based on Component Specifications, Inspection Plans, or Customer-supplied requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Perform visual and dimensional inspections of in-process and finished components, subassemblies, and products. Provide input for inspection methods and improvements related to the job. Assist quality and engineering in investigations of process & supplier related quality issues. Write Discrepant Materials Reports when required and be familiar with the process of quarantining products that have been rejected by Quality Assurance (QA). Provide samples and communication to QA and Production Management concerning quality issues when required. Use statistical analysis to determine correct sampling plan/frequency to insure valid inspection plans. Maintain information systems. Complete accurate records (on paper and electronic data) in order to provide excellent results. Also, complete accurate records for continuous improvement. These records include inspection reports, training records, equipment maintenance logs, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective action reports. Understand the function and purpose of these records. Complete records neatly with a goal of 100% accuracy of content and spelling. Organize work and storage areas for efficient workflow and to showcase the quality of work in the lab. Develop or improve standard work to support both customer and supplier inspections including quotes, understanding customer expectations, and results reporting. Physically receive goods to facility verifying supplier, part numbers and quantities on packing slip vs. purchase order and reconciling discrepancies with purchasing department. Accurately transact all receipts in Enterprise Resource Planning software (Vantage by Epicor) Deliver materials to correct bins/inventory locations and reconcile location discrepancy. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS Individual must be able to work independently with minimal guidance required. This requires good time management, planning/organization, and decision-making skills. Individual must be able to work well in teams with others from diverse organizational functions and backgrounds as both a leader and an individual contributor. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to interface with individuals at all levels and functions of the business. Other related activities as assigned. INTERACTIONS / RELATIONSHIPS Manufacturing Department Engineering Department Finance Department Customer Service Department Technical Service Department POSITION SPECIFICATIONS Three or more years of experience in the medical device industry or aerospace industry as a QA Inspector. Familiar with ISO-9001 or similar Quality Management System. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Preference to certifications in precision inspection and other related disciplines. Possess basic mathematical skills, such as adding, subtracting, and rounding decimal numbers. Possess a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and be detail oriented. Should be familiar with Microsoft Office and have other basic computer skills. Ability to mentor and direct the work of others. PHYSICAL MENTAL/PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, sit, use hands to handle objects and feel Controls, reach, climb stairs, stoop, crouch, listen, and have vision capabilities that enable reading and viewing a computer screen. The employee will occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
